If Advent gatherings for you are incomplete without something tasty in your hand, there is only one place you have to visit this year – EU Advent on European Square. Not just once, but several times.
You’ll find more than 50 completely different dishes across 18 food stalls, with no dish repeated on two stalls. From Istrian specialities, burgers and langošice to Italian panini, pizza from a wood-fired oven, croissants, fritters, hot dogs and dessert showpieces made to end up in photos.
This year, special highlights include Ice House with creative hot drinks, Ice puffs dessert in liquid nitrogen and Ice Smoke cocktails, then Buffalo & BBQ with pizza from a real pizza oven – especially the truffle pizza Motovunska šuma – plus the Leberkäse Burger and German sausages at Ausländer.
Alongside the regular offer, 16 chefs and influencers take part in the humanitarian Diners Club Cooking Duels “Stars Cook” – another reason to stop by, taste two dishes in a duel and support the work of the Budi dobro association.
This is Advent for curious taste buds – and for everyone who loves trying something new each time.

European Square brings one of the most diverse food offers in the city: 18 food stalls + the central bar Zvečka, plus 10 more stands with gifts. Each stall has its own style and signature – here are some of the highlights worth remembering:
Istria on a plate: “Pig in a trough” (Istrian sausage ragout with fresh cheese cream and crispy onions in brioche), Boškarin & truffle and homemade Istrian jota.
Strong and aromatic: ombolo with sauerkraut, Istrian sausages and a burger made from Istrian sausage meat. All paired with mulled wine – red (teran, merlot, refosco) and white (malvazija).
World sandwich hits: Philly cheesesteak, classic Cuban sandwich (and a veggie version), cinnamon rolls and American corn dogs in corn bread with mustard and honey.
The kingdom of fritule: from simple classics to those with Nutella, forest fruits and caramel, plus candied almonds and waffles on a stick.
Winter comfort food: germknedle (classic and with pistachio, raspberry or Ferrero toppings) and “grandma-style” sarma.
The hit of this Advent: Ice Dubai (deep-fried ice cream with pistachio and kadaif), Ice puffs in liquid nitrogen and Ice Smoke cocktails that literally smoke in your hand.
For those who like big portions: tortillas, fajitas, burritos (meat and veggie), sweet potato, fries and pancakes.
Croissants with a Christmas twist: three savoury smash croissants, one sweet and one vegan. Don’t miss Pesto Milano – croissant with pesto, mortadella and sun-dried tomatoes.
Inventive sweet and savoury fritters: with pancetta, fish, pesto and tomatoes, plus caramelised almonds.
Italy for Advent: Christmas panino with turkey, chestnut cream and cranberry chutney, panini with mortadella, San Daniele ham, caprese and veggie options, plus dessert cannoli.
Street food classics: burgers, crispy chicken, langošice – simple and familiar, but done really well.
Pizza oven on Advent: Motovunska šuma truffle pizza (a surprise hit of Advent), Buffalo pizza with Boškarin, classic Margherita for just 8 euros and premium Italian panini.
One of Croatia’s most loved bars: the widest offer of cocktails, hot drinks, mulled wine and other beverages at EU Advent.
Perfect for an aperitif or hot cocktail. Run by Dado Tudić, known for speciality coffee; here he serves Winter Jack, Apple Crumble Punch, Teranino Royale with chilli and more.
American hot dogs: Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, NYC and a veggie option in brioche buns, loaded with toppings and bold flavours.
For fans of tradition: hot dogs and sausages without preservatives, smoked naturally, plus game sausages.
German classics: original wurst sausages based on German recipes – Bratwurst, Currywurst, Nürnbergerwurst XL and Feuerwurst XL, along with the Advent novelty Leberkäse burger.
